so much of what we do nowadays involves parsing XML isn't it about time we delegated it to the hardware?
Or has someone already done it, or more likely it this a dumb idea?

since posting this I've had a lot of hits, so I googled which I should probably have done first, I uncovered this xml appliance
There are lots of XML Accelerators. Either as dedicated appliances or as hardware expansion cards from various manufacturers.
Have used the DataPower appliances from IBM before:
